Decorating the Reception Venue

Decorations play a large role in setting the mood for any function. Weddings are no exception. With the right decorations a simple function site can be transformed into the most elegant venue for a wedding reception. Any atmosphere can be created with decorations. Therefore, the first step when choosing decorations for your reception venue is to decide what type of atmosphere you want to generate. This will depend on the type of wedding you're going to have. For a formal and elegant reception consider decorations such as flowers and candles. An informal afternoon reception, on the other hand, can be decorated with balloons, for example. But flowers always seem popular, whether the wedding is formal or informal.

When choosing a reception venue find out what decorations they supply and what, if any, you need to bring yourself. Also ask if the venue has any restrictions regarding the type of decorations you can use. Not all reception venues allow you to decorate with candles because of their fire hazard, for example.

If you think buying decorations is too expensive consider renting them. Rental companies might be able to give you some decorating ideas. You should choose a rental company about four to six months before the wedding. Ask them about delivery charges, setup and takedown costs, when the equipment is due back and who is going to return it, and who is going to clean it. You and the rental company should sign a contract.
