Types of Bouquets

There are many types of bouquets to choose from. Have a look at some samples to see which ones you like. Your florist might be able to give you some advice on which types of bouquets are suitable for you and your type of wedding. For example, some bouquets are suitable for tall brides but not for short brides, some bouquets are suitable for formal weddings but not for informal ones, etc.

Apart from looking at samples of bouquets read the following before choosing bouquets for you and your bridal party:

  • Teardrop bouquet: is a formal bouquet and has a teardrop shape with a wide trail. Best for formal weddings.
  • Trailing bouquet: is a semi-formal bouquet with a slender trail. Perfect for bridesmaids and informal weddings. Good for short or plump brides/bridesmaids.
  • Biedermeier bouquet: is a round bouquet with flowers arranged in concentric circles, based on type and colour. Best for traditional weddings. Best for tall or thin brides.
  • Posy: is a small rounded bouquet of delicate flowers. It can be loose or formal and is usually on natural stems. Goes well with a simple dress, and best for tall or thin brides.
  • Cascade bouquet: is a bouquet with multiple trails. It is informal and best for tall brides.
  • Natural-stem bouquet: is a large, loose, natural stem posy. Best for tall brides.
  • Arm-spray bouquet: is a collection of long-stemmed flowers which is "cradled" by the bride. Goes well with a simple dress.
