Questions to Ask Wedding Florists
Before being able to choose a florist for your wedding you
must meet and "interview" about three to five prospective
florists. At these meetings you will have the opportunity
to have a look at each wedding florist's samples, as well
as ask questions such as what kind of bouquet designs they
do, which flower varieties they sell, how long they have been
in business for, and so on.
Ask each prospective wedding florist at least the following
questions:
1. How
much experience do you have in floristry?
2. For how long have you been in this business?
3. Have you received any formal training in floristry?
4. How many weddings have you done?
5. Do you design your own flower arrangements? If so, which
designs do you do, e.g. teardrop bouquets, floral headpieces,
centrepieces, etc?
6. Which flower varieties do you sell, e.g. roses, tulips,
banksias, boronia?
7. Do you sell silk flowers?
8.
Can you suggest which flower varieties/flower arrangements/colours/bouquets
suit the ceremony venue, the reception venue, and my wedding
dress and body type? And any other advice.
9. Can you tell me which flower varieties are going to be
in season at the time of my wedding?
10. If a particular variety is not in season at the time
of my wedding, can you import it or buy it from a hothouse?
11. Do you sell any other decorations, such as balloons?
12. Have you been at my ceremony and/or reception venues
before? If not, are you willing to go there and have a look?
13. Will you deliver the flowers to/between each venue? If
so, is there a delivery charge? If so, how much?
14. Will you set up the flower arrangements/other decorations
at the ceremony and reception venues? Is there an extra charge
for this? If so, how much?
15. Will you take the flower arrangements/other decorations
down after the wedding? Is there an extra charge for this?
If so, how much?
16. Is there a rental fee for items such as pillars and stands?
If so, how much?
17. Which items need to be returned after the wedding?
18. Will you pick them up?
19. What is the price of each item?
20. Are there any hidden/additional costs?
21. Is a deposit required? If so, how much?
22. If a deposit is required, when is it due?
23. May I make partial payments?
24. When is the final payment due?
25. Do you provide a written contract and guarantee?
26. What are your cancellation terms?
27. What makes you better than other florists and why should
I hire you?
